The Makita BTD144 is a variable-speed impact driver. It has a 3-speed power selection switch, with soft, medium and hard impact settings. The soft impact setting ranges from 0-1,300 RPM and 0-1,300 IPM for small fasteners such as hinge screws for woodworking. The medium impact setting ranges from 0-2,000 RPM and 0-2,800 IPM for medium sized fasteners such as drywall screws. The hard impact setting ranges from 0-2,600 RPM and 0-3,400 IPM and 1,420 in. lbs. of torque for large fasteners such as lag bolts. The BTD144 has a compact design at just 5-1/2” in length and only 3.3 lbs. with an 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery. The built-in L.E.D. light has an independent on/off switch to illuminate the work surface, when needed. The BTD144 is available as a kit that includes two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, a 30-minute Rapid Optimum Charger, and a tool case, and it has a suggested retail price of $349.99. It's also available separately as the tool by itself (BTD144Z) at a suggested retail price of $189.00.
